Why are my lights flickering?
If one light flickers, the cause is usually a failing LED driver, a cheap or incompatible bulb, or a loose terminal in the fitting. If several lights flicker together, or they dim when a big appliance starts, the problem is further back: a loose connection at the switch, in a junction or at the DB box.
Lights dimming and brightening across the house can mean a loose neutral. Book a same-day check for that, because it can push high voltage onto other circuits and damage appliances.
Why won't my light turn on even with a new bulb?
Downlights and LED panels have a separate driver that converts mains power for the LEDs. When the driver fails, a new bulb won't help. Other causes are a worn switch, a broken connection in the ceiling, or a tripped MCB on the lighting circuit.
We carry common drivers, starters and switches in the van, so most light repairs are finished in one visit.
Repair or replace the fitting?
Replacing a driver or switch is usually cheaper than a new fitting. Old halogen downlights and fluorescent tubes are often better replaced with LED fittings, which use less power and last longer. Replacing a fitting on an existing point costs RM40 to RM80 per light, labour only.
