Does my aircond need its own power point?
Yes. A compressor draws heavy current for hours, plus a surge every time it starts. A shared 13A socket is the classic cause of browned plug tops and MCBs tripping on hot nights. A dedicated point means the aircond never competes with the kettle.
The isolator lets your technician switch the unit off safely during servicing. Most installation manuals call for a dedicated supply with an isolator, which also helps with warranty claims.
What size point does a 1hp, 1.5hp or 2hp aircond need?
As a rule of thumb, 1hp and 1.5hp units run on a 15A or 20A point with 2.5mm² cable. 2hp and 2.5hp units use a 20A point, and long runs may need 4mm² cable. We size the MCB and cable to your actual model.
Four or five aircons on an older single-phase supply can push it to the limit, which is when a 3-phase upgrade starts to make sense. We check the spare capacity at your DB box on the same visit.
Should the electrician or the aircond installer do the point?
Many aircond installers run the point themselves. Booking us first means the point is sized to the unit, tested and labelled before the aircond team arrives. We can come before or on installation day, so the job finishes on time.
