Which kitchen appliances need their own circuit?
Built-in ovens (2.5–3.5kW), induction hobs (3–7kW), dishwashers and dryers should all have dedicated circuits. A fridge draws little, but give it its own socket so it never shares with a kettle or gets unplugged by accident.
A 2.2kW kettle and a 2kW air fryer on one twin socket and adaptor push about 18A through a single faceplate. That is why kitchen plug tops so often turn brown.
Can an induction hob be plugged into a normal socket?
Some small one or two-zone hobs come with a 13A plug and draw under 3kW. Most built-in three or four-zone hobs draw 6–7kW and must be hard-wired to a 32A circuit with 6mm² cable. Check the installation guide before you buy, so the point is ready on delivery day.
Where should the washing machine point go?
Above the worktop, or at least 30cm above the floor, away from the tap and drain hose. Many older condos have the washer socket at floor level in the yard, where water collects. We move it higher with 30mA RCCB protection. A stacked dryer needs its own socket.
