Why is my water heater not heating?
The most common causes are a failed heating element, a faulty thermostat or flow switch, water pressure too low to switch the heater on, or no power reaching the unit. If the power light is on but the water stays cold, the element or flow sensor is the usual suspect. If the light is off, it is usually the switch, the connector or the breaker.
We test each part with a meter instead of guessing, so you only pay for what is actually broken.
Why does my water heater trip the RCCB?
An element that has started leaking current to earth is the classic cause: the RCCB sees the leak and cuts the power, often the moment the heater switches on. Water inside the casing, a damaged cable and a worn connector do the same. Never bypass the RCCB to get hot water back, because it is what protects you in a wet bathroom.
Every instant heater should have its own 10mA RCCB. If yours doesn't, we can add one for RM250 to RM450.
Repair or replace?
If the heater is under five years old and the fault is the element, thermostat or connector, repair usually makes sense. For older units, a cracked tank or a heater that has failed more than once, replacing it is often cheaper over time. Fitting a new heater on an existing point costs RM150 to RM250, labour only.
If your heater is still under the manufacturer's warranty, call the brand's service centre first so the warranty isn't affected.
